Dr Clive Diaz
Professor of Social Work,
School of Medicine, Swansea University
Clive has over 17 years’ experience in children’s social care, working as a social worker, child protection conference chair, and in senior safeguarding roles. More recently, he has held academic positions at Bath University, The Open University, and Oxford Brookes University, bringing his frontline experience into research and teaching.
Since 2018, Clive has been a Researcher at Cardiff University’s CASCADE centre, leading multiple realist evaluations on parental advocacy. He recently completed a Health and Care Research Wales (HCRW) funded study on the implementation of new CSE guidance in Wales. Clive has authored over 20 publications on children’s social care, and his book on decision-making in child and family social work was published by Policy Press in 2020.
Through his research, Clive remains committed to improving child protection policy and practice, ensuring that families are central to the decisions that affect them.
